Southern Glasslined Equipment was founded by James C. Lakeman, a former field technician for a major OEM, envisioned a customer oriented company that would provide glasslined equipment and technical services to chemical companies both large and small. In the fall of 1992, SGE was opened for business, and the phrase that would define the company for the next decade was spoken by Mr. Lakeman at the first employee meeting,"We as a company must put the needs of our customer as our top priority."

In the first few years, SGE began to establish a fiercely loyal customer base. Our technicians worked harder and longer to get customers back, up and running, our warehouse provided parts faster than other companies, and our sales force asked customers "what would you prefer" instead of telling them "let me see what we have." SGE has been built on a customer service platform, and our growth and success through the mid 90s proved that our customers agreed with and will continue to recognize, our customer first concept.

Today SGE has a loyal customer base that extends throughout the United States and into many areas worldwide. We have one of the most extensive inventories of glasslined equipment in North America, and through years of hard work we have established SGE as one of the premier organizations in the chemcial process industry. However, as we have grown and developed into the company that we are today, we have never forgotten that our customers ultimately determine our level of success. We have always been and will continue to be a customer first company.
